What should I be?
I have been pondering my choice of costumes for the 2009 Polar Bear Plunge for several months.
My first idea was to be Micheal Phelps. I thought that my idea was truly original. It turns out it wasn't and was actually featured in an article in Sports Illustrated. Ironically it was the same issue that featured Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her work with the Special Olympics.

Some other ideas I have had:
1. Sonny and Cher (I would be Cher)
2. Groucho Marx
3. A gay Pirate
If you have any ideas of a good costume let me know I have two months to decide and I usually wait until the last minute anyway.

Planning for 2009
I had a original Idea for the costume for 2009 and it was "GOLDEN". I had told a few people about the idea and got a lot of positive feedback. I was driving home from work on Halloween and listening to a sports talk show and they were surprised at how many people were dressing as the same thing that I had thought up a couple months before. Then that night at the Phoenix Hill Tavern there were two people dressed as the same thing. I guess it is back to the drawing board.

2008 Polar Bear Plunge
The day has come and gone. It was a wonderfully cold day with water temperature about 38 degrees. Thousands of people showed up to jump into the Ohio River. The costume contest was great I was even a finalist. Everyone seemed to love me "Puttin' on The Ritz. I can't wait to do it again next year would love to see you there.
Sorry my camera was having technical difficulties so I didn't get very many pictures this year. I will add more when the SOKY.org website publishes the official pictures from the days events.

Jumping into the Ohio River
One of the funnest days of my life was The 2007 Polar Bear Plunge. I created my own TMNT with a little help from my friends.
This is me aproaching the judges for the costume contest.
Finnally getting to jump into 37 degree water.
